Reconnect your AIPI to continue. You're back where you left off; your place in the setup is saved in this tab. If you're asked for your token again, paste it from your Muse account page.
Step 1 of 5 · on this computer
Get your Muse SDK token
Meta asks every Muse gadget to carry a personal SDK token. It's free and tied to your Muse account. Do this on this computer, so you can paste it straight in.
- Open the SDK tokens pageUse the button above. It opens gadgets.muse.ai/settings/sdk-tokens in a new tab.
- Click Log inOn “Log in or create an account”, type the mobile number or email you use for Muse, click Continue, and finish signing in. No account yet? The same screen creates one.
- Tick the terms boxTick “I agree to the Gadget SDK Terms”. The token is for personal use and works with a limited number of devices.
- Click Generate tokenA box called “Copy your new token” appears.
- Click CopyIf you see “Couldn't copy”, select the whole token and press Cmd+C on Mac or Ctrl+C on Windows.
- Come back here and pasteClick the box below and press Cmd+V or Ctrl+V. We check it straight away.
Starts with mgst_ and is 48 characters long.
Already made a token and lost it?
The SDK tokens page only shows the first few characters of a saved token. Click Revoke, confirm, then click Generate token for a new one. The page may let you keep only one active token.
Your token stays in this tab and is written only to your AIPI. It never reaches AIPI's servers. Don't post it in screenshots or chats: Meta's terms make it personal to you.

- Try another cable. Many USB-C cables only charge. The one that came with a phone usually carries data.
- Plug straight into the computer, not a hub, dock or monitor. Try another port.
- Check the AIPI screen is lit. If it's dark, unplug it, wait five seconds and plug it in again.
- Quit Arduino IDE, serial monitors and any other tab with this page open, then click Connect again.
- On Linux, add your user to the
dialoutgroup, log out and back in, then reload this page. - Still nothing? Email support@aipi.com with your computer and browser version.
Step 3 of 5 · on this computer
Back up and install Muse
About 3–5 minutesWe save your AIPI system to this computer first. Then we install Muse, restart your AIPI and add your token.
- Back up your AIPI systemReads all 16 MB and saves aipi-backup.bin where you choose.
- Install Muse for AIPIWrites Muse for AIPI Lite [VERSION], tested on AIPI hardware.
- RestartYour AIPI starts Muse and reconnects over USB.
- Add your SDK tokenSaved on the device only. Then it shows its code.
Before you click
- Chrome asks where to save aipi-backup.bin. Keep the name and click Save.
- Keep the cable plugged in and this tab open until it finishes.
- Plug your laptop into power so it doesn't sleep halfway.
Skipping the backup can't be undone.
- You won't have a file to switch back with — the Switch back page won't be able to restore this device.
- Installing Muse clears the settings AIPI keeps in this part of the flash, so the device may have to be paired in XDC again.
- Only skip this if the backup keeps failing. A device with unusual firmware versions is the usual reason.
Working… don't unplug your AIPI or close this tab.
